Originally from Colombia, I've been practicing design for several years in London, Stockholm and Tokyo. Moving abroad has given me a unique chance to experience several fields including food-tech, e-commerce, and lately travel-tech, allowing me to see the world from different points of view and apply my experience to my practice.
For the last 3 years I had the chance to be part of the leading Property Management System in Japan, where I collaborated with a diverse international team to find solutions and improve the UX of guests and hosts alike in Japan.
After several years in Japan, I've had the opportunity to familiarise myself with the expectations of the Japanese users, which are rather different from those in the West. This has opened me the doors to do online and live talks about multicultural UX design in front of crowds of designers, developers and other attendees in the tech scene.
When I'm not designing, I prioritise my time with my wife and my little daughter. Over my free time I enjoy expanding my knowledge by immersing myself on online courses, books, blogs, and online videos.
Back in 2021 I wrote an article on Medium where explore how different it is to navigate the internet in Japan compared to the West. It led me to be invited to give a talk about the topic on Design Matters Tokyo Eve Meetup, where I had the chance to present in front of a Japanese and international audience who came to Japan to attend the event.
